» Winter's Eve at Lincoln Center

Location:  Broadway (from 60th to 68th Street)

Winter’s Eve is an annual celebration hosted by the Lincoln Square BID to welcome the holiday season. With it’s music, bright lights, performers, and food, this is said to be New York’s largest holiday festival. So why not join in on the celebrations? Spend the evening distributing programs, greeting people, and surveying the attendees!

» Holiday Cards Helper

Date:  Mon, December 2, 2013 (6:00PM - 8:00PM)
Location:  St. Monica's Hall - 47 Sterling Place, Brooklyn, NY

Work with other volunteers to write holiday cards to fathers in prison who are separated from their families and experience loneliness in place of joy. This program Holiday Card is often the only holiday remembrance for many of these men, so come and let them know that they are remembered and not forgotten by the community.

» Movie Hangout - Catching Fire

Date:  Sat, November 30, 2013 (9AM - 12PM)
Location:  34th Street AMC theater

As a division, we'll be watching Catching Fire. We encourage you to come as you get to see this movie for a price lower than normal tickets! Ticket prices are $9 if you give it to us on monday (to a cabinet member, or during divisional) and $10 after that.

In addition, this is a divisional fundraiser and all proceeds will go to help those struck by Typoon Haiyan in the Philippines!

» Banyanihan Outreach

Location:  St. Jacobus Church - 72-01 43rd Ave, Woodside, NY

We plan on doing some educational outreach, including brochure and flyer distribution and balloon-animal making! The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will be holding a free hepatitis B screening at the same table as well, so there is be potential to help them out as well. Finally, this Saturday would be a great chance to show support to the Filipino community in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

» Goddard Book Fair

Location:  Goddard Riverside Community Center - 593 Columbus Avenue

Each year, the Goddard Riverside Community hosts a bookfair that brings readers of all ages from around the city. By selling these books at lower prices, Goddard not only gives the buyers a good deal, but also benefits the homeless people that Goddard donates the proceeds to. Come help Goddard with this cause by unpacking, sorting, selling and packing books, as well as helping people find a book that is right for them!

» Key To Your Future

It is Stuyvesant Key Club's honor to have NYC Young Professionals of Kiwanis invite us to their 9th Annual Key to Your Future Day. In case you don't know, Kiwanis is the adult division of the K-Family, with Key Club being the High School division. Like us, Kiwanians serve their community and strive to make the world a better place. They also sponsor Key Clubs and help us develop into leaders.

Get to know your Kiwanians and ask any questions about their fields! Their members have various professions ranging from finance, medical, journalism, media, engineering, and others! Panels are subject to change but as of now, they will cover a wide range of topics such as Writing Your First Resume, Preparing for an Interview, Financing Your Education, Choosing a College, and How to Network Effectively.

This is an AMAZING opportunity not only for Key Club (meeting Key Clubbers and Kiwanians all around NYC), but for your college and career in general. All of the Kiwanians are highly professional and accomplished individuals and if you take the initiative to go, you will learn so much from the event!

» November Divisional

Location:  Stuyvesant High School Cafeteria

Every month, the Key Clubs in Division 11 (basically all of the Manhattan/Bronx Key Clubs) gather together for a divisional where we discuss past events and upcoming initiatives. This month, it is conveniently located right in our school! Attending divisionals is a great way for you all to see Key Club outside of Stuyvesant. Therefore, we highly recommend that you come!

» P.S.124 Parent Teacher Conference

Location:  P.S.124 (Yung Wing Elementary School) - 40 Division Street New York, NY 10002

Volunteers will be helping as translators at PS 124 Yung Wing Elementary School’s parent teacher conference. Please keep in mind that this is a school in Chinatown, so it is recommended that you be fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese.

» Planning the Weekend Walks

Weekend Walks are events held by a community to showcase the best parts of it. Just this June, we helped Chinatown BID with their first weekend walk to make it a success! They are now preparing for the weekend walks happening next year and they plan to make it A LOT bigger! So come tomorrow to help with the planning stage of it all.
