Key Club Pencil

» November Divisional

Date:  Mon, November 18, 2013 (5:30PM - 7PM)
Location:  Stuyvesant High School Cafeteria

Every month, the Key Clubs in Division 11 (basically all of the Manhattan/Bronx Key Clubs) gather together for a divisional where we discuss past events and upcoming initiatives. This month, it is conveniently located right in our school! Attending divisionals is a great way for you all to see Key Club outside of Stuyvesant. Therefore, we highly recommend that you come!

» P.S.124 Parent Teacher Conference

Date:  Wed, November 13, 2013 (5PM - 7PM)
Location:  P.S.124 (Yung Wing Elementary School) - 40 Division Street New York, NY 10002

Volunteers will be helping as translators at PS 124 Yung Wing Elementary School’s parent teacher conference. Please keep in mind that this is a school in Chinatown, so it is recommended that you be fluent in Mandarin and/or Cantonese.

» Planning the Weekend Walks

Location:  60 St. James Place, Manhattan, NY

Weekend Walks are events held by a community to showcase the best parts of it. Just this June, we helped Chinatown BID with their first weekend walk to make it a success! They are now preparing for the weekend walks happening next year and they plan to make it A LOT bigger! So come tomorrow to help with the planning stage of it all.

Each year the lieutenant governors get together to host a Fall Rally, a day in which thousands of key clubbers from around NYC gather to bond, have fun, and learn more about Key Club. These will be done through workshops which will also include teaching essential skills such as public speaking and resume-building. Fall Rally is truly an amazing experience and we highly encourage you to attend! Also, RSVP on the Facebook page!

» Breakthrough For Brain Tumors 5K Run & Walk

Date:  Sat, November 9, 2013 (6AM - 1PM)
Location:  Hudson River Park's Pier 84 - 12th Ave and 44th St

Breakthrough For Tumors is a 3.1-mile run/walk that will raise funds for brain tumor research and services for those who have been diagnosed with brain tumor. We will be volunteering out on the course with pre- and post-event activities.

» Asphalt Screams

Date:  Thu, October 31, 2013 (4PM - 7PM)
Location:  Battery Park City - 212 North End Ave

At Asphalt Green, kids will be dressed up in costumes as they participate in Halloween-themed events. These include games such as Zombie Freeze Tag, Spooktacular Soccer Shootout, and many more! We will be volunteering to overlook these activities as well as setting up, decorating cookies/bags, and cleanup.

» Out of Darkness Walk

Date:  Sun, October 27, 2013 (8AM - 12PM)
Location:  Robert F. Wagner Park - Manhattan, NY

We are helping the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at their NYC walk! Suicide is a prevalent problem in our country, and it is not the solution to people’s problems. We want people to understand this, and so, let’s make sure that this walk is successful and brings awareness to this ongoing problem! Jobs will include walk setup, passing out food, cheering on the walkers and cleaning up!

You must fill out this waiver form and bring it to the event!

» Haunted Halloween Carnival

Date:  Sat, October 26, 2013 (9AM - 1PM, 12PM - 4PM)
Location:  1st Street Recreation Center of PS 372 - Park Slope, Brooklyn

We will be helping Puppetry Arts setting up, breaking down, and running activities at the Haunted Halloween Carnival. Feel free to dress up in costumes!

October Divisional might be the first divisional for many of you! We encourage you to join so that you can know more about Key Club and our division. At the divisional, you will get the information about the upcoming divisional events. The divisional is also a good chance for all of you to meet some Key Clubbers from other high schools in NYC and have fun with them!

» Walk to End Alzheimer's

Location:  Riverside Park - W. 97th Street & Riverside Drive

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. We will be volunteering at this event. The Alzheimer’s Association is actually one of the New York District Key Club’s (NYDKC) district projects this year. Therefore, we highly recommend you to come, as it means a lot to Key Club and because you are supporting this great cause.
