Key Club Pencil

» Komen Greater NYC Goody Bag Stuffing

We will be stuffing goody bags at the Komen Greater NYC Office in anticipation of the race the following week. A couple volunteers are needed for this event as there are plenty of goody bags to stuff!

» August Divisional

Date:  Tue, August 27, 2013 (5:30PM - 7:30PM)
Location:  Nelson A. Rockefeller Park (in Battery Park)

This divisional will be a fun hangout where you can meet up with your fellow Key Clubbers before the school year starts up again. Use this divisional as an opportunity to get concise updates and chill with your friends in a fun picnic-like atmosphere. Bring food and games so that we can all reconnect!

» Third Annual Kiwanis Picnic

Date:  Sun, August 25, 2013 (12PM - 5PM)
Location:  Cunningham Park

As the end of the summer approaches, join your fellow members of the K-Family at this fun picnic! Have some outdoor fun by playing volleyball, racing in wheelbarrows, tossing water balloons, competing in frozen t-shirt contests, playing Ninja or Wah, and partaking in many other activities!
There will be an admission fee of $5!

» Divisional Training Conference

Location:  75 East Broadway, New York, NY 10002

DTC is an annual conference held to train club officers and members. Come and learn more about Key Club and attend the various workshops to develop leadership and promote teamwork and communication. You will connect with the members not only within Stuyvesant, but in other Key Clubs in Division 11! The admission fee is $3 and there will be refreshments available. Business casual is required.

» Chinatown Wellness Festival

Location:  60 St. James Place in Chinatown

This is a fun community event where we will be promoting the wellness of Chinatown! It is important that people understand the importance of Chinatown to the Chinese community. There are a few activities that we will be helping with such as the photo booth.

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space—our streets. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. There will be various activities such as zip-lining, dancing, and biking. You will be marshalling the route, directing participants, and helping thousands of New Yorkers enjoy Summer Streets - and you’ll have a great time too!

» Chinatown Beautification Day

CUNY AAARI at 25 West 43rd Street (Youth Conference - Sunday)

The theme this year is “SPEAK! Redefining Our Narratives.” Come join over 200 youth as we explore what the concept of “narratives” means to us and be able to voice OUR narratives as we clean up the streets of Chinatown and empower ourselves through a series of educational workshops.

» Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival

Dates:  Sat, August 10, 2013 (7AM - 6PM)
Sun, August 11, 2013 (7AM - 6PM)
Location:  Flushing Meadows Corona Park

The HKDBF is an annual sporting and multicultural event held to celebrate the fifth moon (or the fifth month) of the lunar calendar. In addition to providing audiences with traditional Chinese foods and performances, the festival hosts over 120 dragon boat teams from across North America, making it one of the largest dragon boat festivals in the United States. Volunteers can help out during the event with Team Registration, Docking, VIP, Arts and Crafts, Timekeeping, Parking, Press, Events Coordination, and Team Coordination!

You will need to fill out a volunteer waiver form to be able to volunteer!

» Teen Resource Center Open Mic

» World Hepatitis Day

Date:  Sun, July 28, 2013 (9:30AM - 12:30PM)
Location:  Times Square - Duffy Square (between West 46th & 47th St, Broadway and 7th Ave)

We will be raising awareness for Hepatitis by holding signs and distributing flyers to people in Times Square. Then at 12, we’ll participate in trying to break the Guinness World Record for the most people performing the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” poses! These poses signify how Hepatitis has been largely ignored by individuals, communities and health organizations despite its prevalence in the world. Learn more about what we will be doing.
