Key Club Pencil

» Walk to End Alzheimer's

Date:  Sun, October 20, 2013 (8AM - 12:30PM)
Location:  Riverside Park - W. 97th Street & Riverside Drive

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. We will be volunteering at this event. The Alzheimer’s Association is actually one of the New York District Key Club’s (NYDKC) district projects this year. Therefore, we highly recommend you to come, as it means a lot to Key Club and because you are supporting this great cause.

» Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Date:  Sun, October 20, 2013 (6:30AM - 12PM)
Location:  Central Park - 72nd Street Bandshell

Making Strides of Central Park is a divisional project supporting the American Cancer Society. This walk is to not only raise money to fund research for Breast Cancer, but also to support those that have suffered from or are currently suffering from breast cancer. For these reasons, this walk is extremely important and it would be great if you came to volunteer at this event!

» ROC Race 5K

Date:  Sat, October 19, 2013 (8AM - 11AM, 10AM - 2:30PM, 1PM - 5PM)
Location:  Aqueduct Racetrack - Take the A train to Aqueduct/North Conduit Avenue station

The ROC race, dubbed the Ridiculous Obstacle Course race, is an annual race inspired by the popular game show, Wipeout. It combines the craziest obstacles to create the best obstacle course ever. We will be helping with this event by doing bag check, registration, obstacle assistance, and other fun jobs! Food will be provided at this event!

» Brooklyn Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis

Date:  Sun, October 13, 2013 (9:30AM - 1:30PM)
Location:  Prospect Park - Oriental Pavilion

Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis is the nation’s only walk dedicated to finding a cure for digestive diseases. Going into its third season, this walk has built up a strong community and has raised almost $100,000! Come help out with not only the walk, but also the celebration festival which includes both adult and children games, entertainment and more!

» Stuyvesant Open House

Dates:  Wed, October 9, 2013 (5PM - 7PM)
Thu, October 10, 2013 (5PM - 7PM)
Location:  Stuyvesant High School

Students and parents who are interested in Stuyvesant will be attending Open House. Give tours and show them how amazing Stuy is! Freshmen will not be allowed to help out, but there will be plenty of other volunteering opportunities, so don’t worry!
There will be a mandatory briefing at 4:15 in the theater, where you will be given jobs to do along with important information you need to know about Open House.

» JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

Dates:  Sun, September 29, 2013 (7AM - 11AM)

Locations:  Flushing Meadows Corona Park (October 6)
Foley Square (September 29)

We will be volunteering with JDRF to assist with their walks in Manhattan and Queens! Join us in helping JDRF raise money to cure Type 1 Diabetes! This walk is for a great cause and we recommend that you all go!

» Light the Night Walk (Queens)

Date:  Sat, October 5, 2013 (12:30PM - 10PM (Depending on job))
Location:  Forest Park/Victory Field, Queens, NY 11421

Light the Night raises money for medical research for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We will be walking with Key Club members from other high schools in the division, so not only will you be walking for a great cause, but you can also meet many Key Clubbers outside of Stuyvesant!

» Stuyvesant Key Club Interest Meeting

To our new and prospective members, we will be hosting our annual interest meeting in the cafeteria after 10th period. We know how stressful life at Stuyvesant is and we hope that we will be something that you will look forward to for the rest of your Stuy life. At our interest meeting, you will be able to find out more about the nation’s largest community service club.

» FAB! Festival

Location:  East 4th Street between Bowery Street & 2nd Ave

This year, Fourth Arts Block is celebrating the tenth anniversary of their FAB! Festival! This neighborhood block party features local artists and dancers from all different kinds of cultures. It commemorates the year round community building that occurs and shows that the arts will continue to thrive and grow. If you’re interested in seeing amazing performances, while helping with the festival, sign up!

» Light the Night Walk (Manhattan)

Date:  Wed, September 25, 2013 (4PM - 7PM)
Location:  Hudson River Greenway Pier 57, Manhattan NY

Light the Night is a walk done in the nighttime with illuminated balloons to celebrate those whose are survivors of Leukemia and those that are currently fighting it. We will be helping along the route with things like passing out food, cheering the walkers on, taking photos, and giving balloons to the walkers!
